What You Need To Consider About Insurance in the Medical Sector

When you work in the medical sector, whether as a GP, pharmacist, optician, dentist, physiotherapist, or even a vet, there are certain types of insurance cover that you need to have. Some of these, such as Employers’ Liability insurance and Public Liability insurance, are not optional. You have to have them to cover you if one of your employees is injured while at work and is able to claim compensation. So those types of insurance are a requirement of the job. There are also situations where you might have a mortgage on the premises, and the mortgage lender will require insurance to be in place. As we have always said at Approachable Locum Insurance, if your partner is only away for a few days, you can probably manage to handle it. Certainly, you may have to rebook some appointments, but that is not usually an issue. However, if one of your dentists is away for some weeks, or even months, it can make a really big difference to your practice turnover. Some dental practices are big, of course, but the average practice in the UK has just three dentists working in it, so if one is away, your turnover drops by one third. And if there are only two of you, it drops by half. Not good. That means that under those circumstances you would be in a position where you would need to hire a locum to stand in for the dentist who is away in order to provide the necessary services to your patients. Now there is nothing wrong with th
